Driveway & Entrance Construction at Island View

TM Contract Services was appointed to carry out a full driveway and entrance construction for a private property at Island View. The project aimed to improve the client’s privacy, enhance kerb appeal, and provide a stylish new approach to the residence.

Background

The existing stone chipping driveway and basic entrance no longer suited the style or functionality of the newly renovated property. The client required a complete overhaul of the access route to their home, including the creation of a new bellmouth entrance, resurfacing, and decorative brickwork.

Works Included

New Driveway (Approx. 62m x 4.2m):

Sub-base of MOT Type 1 compacted on geotextile membrane
Granite block edgings (200x100mm), two deep on either side, bedded in concrete
Tarmac laid and compacted as base layer
Tar & chip surface finish applied to complete the look

New Entrance (Approx. 30sqm):

Trees and roadside hedging cleared to form new access
Excavation and installation of concrete kerbs on existing road
MOT Type 1 base compacted to 100mm on membrane
DBM tarmac applied to 100mm depth for durability

Brickwork & Decorative Features:

Footings dug and poured with C30 concrete to approx. 1m depth
Construction of brick piers and walls with ragstone infill for a traditional finish

Removal of Old Driveway:

Removal of 225sqm of stone chippings and existing concrete entrance
Installation of kerbs behind old entrance to restrict unauthorised parking
Full muck-away from site
Import and compact topsoil, finishing with turf for a clean result

Outcome

The client now enjoys a secure, private, and visually impressive entrance and driveway that complements the character of their newly refurbished home. The tar & chip finish offers a classic, textured appearance, while the brickwork and piers create a welcoming gateway. The project significantly elevated the property’s presentation and functionality.
