Footpaths & Bin Store Construction Dover

TM Contract Services was appointed by Dover District Council to carry out improvement works at Harrold Street (CT16), focused on enhancing access to bin stores and creating a more functional, low-maintenance communal area.

Background

The existing access from the car park to the bin stores was inconvenient and unsuitable for regular use by residents and waste collection teams. Dover District Council required a new, well-structured layout including footpaths and a purpose-built bin store to improve safety, access, and overall site usability.

Works Included

Tarmac Footpaths (Approx. 90sqm):

Marking out and scanning for services
Excavation to correct formation levels
Installation of concrete edgings
Geotextile membrane laid with compacted MOT Type 1 sub-base
Two-layer tarmac surfacing for durability
Surrounding areas reinstated with topsoil for a clean finish

Concrete Pad & Bin Store:

Excavation and formation for 12sqm concrete pad
Concrete edgings and compacted MOT Type 1 base on membrane
Concrete poured to finish the pad
Construction of a 1.6m high x 15m long double-skin brickwork bin store
Installation of a new pedestrian gate for secure access

Outcome

TM Contract Services delivered a complete access solution that significantly improves functionality and appearance. The new tarmac paths provide safe, practical routes for both residents and bin collection teams. The robust brick bin store and secure gate offer a clean, durable, and professional waste management facility, helping Dover District Council enhance the residential environment with minimal disruption.
