Tarmac Footpath and Groundworks for Dover Council

TM Contracts was appointed by Dover Council to replace damaged paving slab footpaths at Trinity Place in Deal after the existing surfaces became uneven and created trip hazards outside residential properties.

Over time, the paving slabs had shifted and deteriorated, creating safety concerns for residents and pedestrians. Following a site assessment, TM Contracts recommended replacing the slabs with a tarmac footpath solution, providing a more durable, lower-maintenance surface with improved longevity.

The project began with the full excavation and removal of the existing paving slabs and sub-base to achieve the required construction levels. New timber edging was then supplied and installed along both sides of the footpath to create a neat and secure boundary.

A geotextile membrane was laid before MOT Type 1 aggregate was installed and compacted to form a stable foundation. The new tarmac surface was then imported and machine compacted in two layers to create a smooth and hard-wearing finish.

All works were completed safely and efficiently while minimising disruption to local residents.

The completed footpath installation has provided Trinity Place residents with a smooth, long-lasting walkway that significantly improves accessibility and safety.

By replacing the uneven paving slabs with a professionally installed tarmac pathway, TM Contracts helped eliminate trip hazards and reduce the risk of injuries while delivering a low-maintenance solution for Dover Council.
